Author Plans To Walk Every Neighborhood In Boston For Good Causes, You Can Join Him

We all have those friends we've promised to get coffee and catch up with but can never find the time. Or those places in our cities that we always wanted to visit but just never get around to it.

Boston author Patrick Maguire will walk through every Boston neighborhood to raise money for several good causes, and you can even join him on his trek — just make sure to have a good pair of walking shoes.

One Boston author has decided to keep those promises and walk every neighborhood in the city for a good cause. Patrick Maguire will hoof it to raise money for Make-A-Wish Foundation Massachusetts and Rhode Island and Stride for Stride, and you can join him. But if you can't make it and still want to help out, you can donate to his GoFundMe

"I want to rekindle relationships with everyone that I've promised to meet up and have a cup of coffee (I'm a tea drinker) but a cup of coffee or a drink, he told CBS Boston. "And walking is one of the best ways to reconnect with old friends, and I hope to meet some new friends along the way in the neighborhoods of Boston. It's getting me away from the computer, and it's a fresh start."

Maguire will end up walking more than 650 miles of streets covering every nook and cranny in Boston. And the journey starts on Tuesday, Aug. 16.

"I'm launching a walking journey in East Boston that will cover and showcase the heart of every Boston neighborhood. The inaugural walk departs at 7 a.m. from the Wood Island T stop on the Blue Line-Bennington Street side at the bus circle," he wrote on his GoFundMe page. "Each walk will be at least a half marathon, 13.1+ miles. Large neighborhoods like Eastie, Dorchester, Southie, Roxbury, and Hyde Park, will be covered in 2 walks totaling at least a marathon, 26.2 miles. Smaller neighborhoods like the North End, Back Bay, West End, and Chinatown will be combined into one half-marathon walk. I hope some of you will join me for a portion of the adventure. All are welcome."
